More on the Christ Life

Luke 14: 26 "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 27 "And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.”

Oswald Chambers, “My Utmost for His Highest”, has been a steady staple in my spiritual diet ever since my precious mother-in-law gave me that book for Christmas many years ago. (Good books are filled with years worth of gold for the mining. Thank Joyce!) Today’s reading (here) strikes at this theme I want to explore this year. It interest me that the theme is not a new theme, just an old deception resurrected, redressed and repositioned for the modern world. It is effective because it does not take to heart the words of Exodus 20:1-6 or 1 John 5: 21.

I want to conclude this with one last thought.

One must crucify the Christ of the imagination in order to surrender to the Christ of scripture.
